About Theatrosaurus
London is one of the most multicultural cities in the world: it is home to nearly 100 diasporas and over 300 languages are spoken here. Children quickly integrate into the English-speaking environment, switch to English, and gradually forget their native language. Yet bilingualism is a huge advantage not only for the child but also for society as a whole: it develops cognitive flexibility, fosters tolerance, and enriches local culture.

Last year we founded the acting club TeatroZavr, where we created a format that helps children preserve their language not through boring lessons, but through art and creativity. Children practiced acting, made films, staged plays — and we saw that through creativity language is preserved easily and joyfully, and bilingualism becomes a natural part of life.

Now we are planning to expand: while last year we worked only with children from Eastern European families, going forward we plan to include more cultures in our acting club and add more languages.

Our Programmes

  • Theatre
In the Theatre program, children practice acting techniques, stage movement, and speech. We read works of classical literature in their native language, allowing children to hear it in its authentic sound, and then they make the text their own in the process of staging a play.
For the performance, we invite parents and friends — and it becomes a major event for the whole community.
  • Film
In the Film program, children explore acting techniques and learn to express themselves freely in front of the camera. We run scriptwriting workshops where they invent stories, develop imagination, and practice building a narrative.
After that, we work together to shoot short films, and we invite parents and friends to the premiere. So far, we have already created two films — and each became a real celebration for everyone involved.
Meet the Team
The children will be guided by professionals:
  • Ksenia Levchenko
Actress and director, graduate of the Shchepkin Theatre School. She will introduce children to the basics of filmmaking: what a shot, plan, and angle are, how to make a film dynamic and engaging, and how to work in front of the camera.
  • Daria Besedina
Screenwriter. Author of the film “Beri da pomni” and the London musical «Boogie on the Bones». Daria will teach the kids how to invent stories and create vivid characters. Daria will teach the kids how to invent stories and create vivid characters.
  • Stepan Dyagil
Actor, graduate of the Shchepkin Theatre School. He works wonderfully with children, supporting and inspiring them. He will teach acting methods, stage movement, and speech.
  • Abraham Bukoke
Cinematographer. In addition to his experience working with children, Abraham brings excellent technical equipment — from camera to sound and lighting — everything needed to create a true cinematic atmosphere on set and make the film even better.
  • Inga Shamsutdinova
Inga leads external communications, partnerships, and operations at the club, creating strong connections and ensuring things run seamlessly. Also part of the management committee of a nonprofit focused on access and inclusion, she brings a strategic mindset shaped by years of experience in consulting across energy and sustainability.
Parent Reviews
  • Thank you so much for the wonderful Halloween film course. It exceeded my expectations because I didn't believe that children around 10 years old could make such a high-quality film with such a great plot in just 8 sessions! It turned out to be a real short film of professional level, and the final graduation-film premiere session was pure enjoyment for the whole family. David really enjoyed the course and classes and he really wants to continue studying with Teatrozavr, and is looking forward to new projects!

  • I would like to thank the organizers of the "film-making circle" for the organization. My twins were born in England and, being the only Russian-speaking parent, it's very difficult to maintain the Russian language. In this circle's classes, children learn not only to confidently hold themselves in front of the camera, but also to work on diction, as well as to film movies themselves - to be the cameraman! And of course - all of this in Russian! Thank you very much for this initiative, and we hope for new projects in which we will definitely participate.

  • We want to thank you for the wonderful course and final session. I had little faith that Ilya wouldn't say "ugh, what rubbish, I'm not going anymore" at the first session, which has happened more than once before. But he fell in love with Teatrozavr immediately and every Saturday was eager to go, even though it's quite far for us to get there. And while Ilya had a great time for 3 hours, I could breathe, walk around the beautiful center and do my own things. For any parent on the weekend, this is heavenly:) I also noticed that it became easier for Ilya to come out and speak publicly at school. He even wrote an essay and read it himself at the general school assembly and noted how attentively other children listened to him - the acting classes could have influenced this too. And huge thanks for immersing the kids in how the film-making process works and helping them try being different participants: from the clapperboard to the actor. In general, huge thanks to you and we're waiting for new cool projects!
