About Theatrosaurus
London is one of the most multicultural cities in the world: it is home to nearly 100 diasporas and over 300 languages are spoken here. Children quickly integrate into the English-speaking environment, switch to English, and gradually forget their native language. Yet bilingualism is a huge advantage not only for the child but also for society as a whole: it develops cognitive flexibility, fosters tolerance, and enriches local culture.
Last year we founded the acting club TeatroZavr, where we created a format that helps children preserve their language not through boring lessons, but through art and creativity. Children practiced acting, made films, staged plays — and we saw that through creativity language is preserved easily and joyfully, and bilingualism becomes a natural part of life.
Now we are planning to expand: while last year we worked only with children from Eastern European families, going forward we plan to include more cultures in our acting club and add more languages.
